LANYARD
IMPRINTING METHODS:
Embossing
The process of
embossing results in raised text from the surface of the material. It’s commonly used on
such materials as metal and leather. Dog tag lanyards consist of a beaded
lanyard and an embossed stainless steel dog tag. Embossing is the marking method
used by the armed forces for creating soldier dog tags. The embossing
machinery for dog tags consists of a drum containing male-female dies for
letters, numbers and special characters. The mark in the material is formed when
the male-female dies come together. This process is also referred to as metal
stamping. Embossing is the most durable of all marking methods since the letters
are formed out of the metal and thus won’t rub or scratch off. It's typically
limited to the application of only letters, numbers and some special characters
of the same size.
