For multi color
imprints on both sides dye sublimation is the way to go. Dye sublimated lanyards
also use a heat and pressure in order to apply the imprint to the material, but
here the logo information is contained on paper making multi color imprints more
practical. another advantage of dye sublimation over hot stamping and screen
printing is that the imprint does not sit on the surface of the material, but
gets transferred into the material. Since the imprint is not “on” the surface it
is less likely to become scraped and worn.
The starting lanyard material for dye
sublimation is always white polyester. The “ground” or base lanyard color as
well as the imprint are applied during the transfer “sublimation” process.
Dye sublimation produces the best quality and should be considered for
anyone who requires more than one imprint color on both sides. Due to the set-up
requirements dye sublimated lanyards tend to have higher minimum purchase
quantities than the other imprint methods, typically around 250 pcs.
